R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, The Junior League of Dallas is an organization of
  women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential
  of women, and improving the community; and
         WHEREAS, Established in 1922 by 40 charter members, the
  Junior League of Dallas currently boasts a membership of more than
  5,000, making it the largest member of the Association of Junior
  Leagues International, which includes 293 participating leagues in
  the United States, Canada, Mexico, and United Kingdom; and
         WHEREAS, From rocking infants to answering crisis line calls,
  members contribute more than 130,000 hours of community service
  each year, and they raise more than $1 million annually to fund
  programs in six fundamental issue areas: arts and cultural
  enrichment, education, family preservation, health, and poverty
  and violence intervention; furthermore, the League more than
  triples the value of each dollar donated by providing trained
  volunteer support to community agencies; led by 2012-2013 president
  Aimee Griffiths and 2013-2014 president Laura Johnson, members are
  volunteering with organizations throughout the area, including
  Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual
  Arts, the Friends of the Dallas Public Library, the Boys & Girls
  Club of Greater Dallas, the North Texas Food Bank, the Children's
  Medical Center, and the Genesis Women's Shelter; and
         WHEREAS, For nearly a century, members of the Junior League
  of Dallas have contributed to the health, welfare, and cultural
  environment of their community, and countless residents have
  benefited from their generosity; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby honor the Junior League of Dallas for its
  commendable record of service and extend to all those associated
  with the organization best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the Junior League of Dallas as an expression of high
  regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
