R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, Estelle Sawyer of Corpus Christi passed away on |
|
|
April 17, 2013, at the age of 73, leaving her circle of family and |
|
|
friends to cherish their many happy memories of time spent in her |
|
|
company; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Born in Corpus Christi on August 9, 1939, to |
|
|
Eustolia and Reyes P. Perez, the former Estelle Perez grew up with |
|
|
three sisters and a brother; she got her first job at the age of 15, |
|
|
and as a teen, she was the runner-up in a state typing competition; |
|
|
throughout her career, Mrs. Sawyer was known for her strong |
|
|
administrative and organizational skills and for her |
|
|
professionalism; she retired at the age of 71 from the Corpus |
|
|
Christi Independent School District; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Sawyer was an outgoing woman who loved music |
|
|
and took great pleasure in playing the piano and guitar and in |
|
|
dancing; an active member of her community, she served on the board |
|
|
of directors of the Boys Club of Corpus Christi for many years; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In all of her endeavors, Mrs. Sawyer enjoyed the |
|
|
love and support of her husband, Jerry, with whom she shared more |
|
|
than half a century; she also took great pride in her children, Gray |
|
|
and Rhonda, and with the passing years, her family grew to include |
|
|
four grandchildren, Ashley, Amber, Grayson, and Dalton; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Those who were privileged to share in the friendship |
|
|
and love of Estelle Sawyer will always remember her with great |
|
|
tenderness and affection; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Estelle Sawyer and |
|
|
extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her |
|
|
husband, Gerald Sawyer; to her children, Gerald Gray Sawyer, Jr., |
|
|
and Rhonda Sawyer Ilseng and her husband, Jeff; to her |
|
|
grandchildren, Ashley, Amber, and Grayson Ilseng; to her mother, |
|
|
Eustolia Perez; to her sisters, Mary Louise Russell and her |
|
|
husband, Durrell, Gloria Schulz and her husband, Russ, and Rose |
|
|
Marie Ward and her husband, Bill; to her brother, R. P. Perez, Jr., |
|
|
and his wife, Yolanda; and to her other relatives and friends; and, |
|
|
be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Estelle |
|
|
Sawyer. |
