R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Former students and colleagues gathered on March 27,
  2013, to honor Margarita Moreno for her four decades of service as
  an educator in the Kingsville Independent School District; and
         WHEREAS, A 1942 graduate of H. M. King High School,
  Ms. Moreno first began teaching at the age of 19, using an emergency
  teaching certificate being issued at the time to make up for the
  loss of male teachers to military service during World War II; in
  1947, she received her bachelor's degree in elementary education
  from Texas A&I University and earned her master's degree three
  years later; she joined Kleberg Elementary in 1949, and she
  remained on the staff until 1975, when she was transferred to Harvey
  Elementary; she spent the final decade of her career at Perez
  Elementary, retiring in 1984; and
         WHEREAS, This longtime educator has been praised for her
  dedication to her students, her kindness, and her emphasis on
  bilingualism in her classroom; now 89, Ms. Moreno was recognized
  for her many contributions to the community at the March
  celebration, which was held at the Kleberg Elementary School
  library; and
         WHEREAS, Margarita Moreno has had a positive influence on the
  lives of generations of area Texans, and she inspired in her
  students a love of learning that has served them well throughout
  their lives; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Margarita Moreno for her 40 years of
  service to the students of Kingsville ISD and extend to her sincere
  best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Moreno as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
