R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories
  of Kathryn Ann Pierce of Austin, who passed away on April 23, 2013,
  at the age of 87; and
         WHEREAS, Born on November 17, 1925, in Portland, Oregon, Ann
  Pierce attended El Centro Junior College in Dallas, where she
  studied journalism; civically engaged throughout her life, Mrs.
  Pierce volunteered in political campaigns for those candidates who
  were dedicated to improving the lives of those less fortunate, and
  she encouraged her fellow citizens to vote; and
         WHEREAS, The mother of eight, Mrs. Pierce inspired in her
  children a love of history and reading; she especially enjoyed
  sharing meals and good conversation with family and friends; she
  also took great pleasure in traveling, gardening, painting, and
  watching classic movies; and
         WHEREAS, Kathryn Ann Pierce was a woman of grace and humility
  who remained engaged in the world throughout her life, and she is
  deeply missed by all those who held her dear; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Kathryn Ann Pierce
  and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her
  children, Cathy Pierce, Lawanna Pierce, Corinne Leslie, Jeanette
  Smiecinski, Bill Pierce, and Anita Pierce; to her sons-in-law,
  Stuart Hersh, David Leslie, David Smiecinski, and Ian Westergren;
  to her six grandchildren and her great-grandchild; and to her other
  relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Kathryn Ann
  Pierce.
