R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Dona Julian Cassel has demonstrated exceptional |
|
generosity through her support of the College of Education and |
|
Human Services at her alma mater, Texas A&M University--Commerce; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Cassel has made a new gift to the university to |
|
facilitate the integration and effective use of technology in the |
|
teacher education program; and |
|
WHEREAS, The funding provided by Ms. Cassel, which is part of |
|
a larger commitment for the Dona Julian Cassel Creative Technology |
|
Classroom, will allow faculty members to develop and apply |
|
technology skills to enhance instruction, research, writing, and |
|
service activities and will provide opportunities for preservice, |
|
in-service, and graduate teacher education students to develop and |
|
apply technology skills to improve the teaching/learning process; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, With a bachelor's degree in elementary education and |
|
a master's degree in English, Ms. Cassel is a poet and a retired |
|
teacher who has returned to live in her hometown of Pittsburg; she |
|
is an active member of the East Texas Medical Center Foundation and |
|
the Northeast Texas Community College Foundation; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Cassel is a champion of innovation and |
|
achievement in higher education in Texas, and she is indeed |
|
deserving of special recognition and praise; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor Dona Julian Cassel for her contributions |
|
to Texas A&M University--Commerce and extend to her sincere best |
|
wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Cassel as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
