R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Dallas Hobie Fleet 23 is hosting the 40th annual
  Mid-America's Regatta on Lewisville Lake from May 24 to 27, 2013,
  and this special anniversary is a fitting occasion to celebrate
  this unique boating event; and
         WHEREAS, The regatta features the Hobie catamaran, popularly
  known as a Hobie Cat, a lightweight, multi-hulled craft that is one
  of the most popular sailboats in North America; and
         WHEREAS, Dallas Hobie Fleet 23 is a member of the Hobie Class
  Association of North America, and the group has been holding its
  regatta every year since 1973, first on Lake Texoma and then, since
  the early 1990s, at the Dallas Corinthian Yacht Club on Lewisville
  Lake; and
         WHEREAS, In its early years, the Mid-America's Regatta was an
  area championship at which the winners could qualify for the
  national championships, but since 1990, the race has been one of the
  premier Hobie Cat regattas in the nation, drawing a large number of
  participants and fans; and
         WHEREAS, Over the past four decades, the members of Dallas
  Hobie Fleet 23 and their guests have braved springtime storms and
  boat-flipping winds with a sense of fun and camaraderie as racers,
  enthusiasts, and their families gather to enjoy food, music, and a
  spirited catamaran competition; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 40th anniversary of the
  Mid-America's Regatta and extend to the event's organizers,
  contestants, and fans sincere best wishes for an enjoyable and
  memorable weekend; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Dallas Hobie Fleet 23 as an expression of high regard
  by the Texas House of Representatives.
