R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
  passing of Jack Hinton Havis, a longtime resident of Baytown, on
  April 27, 2013, at the age of 88; and
         WHEREAS, Born to Hinton and Bonnie Havis in the Pelly
  community on January 3, 1925, Jack Havis graduated from Cedar Bayou
  High School in Baytown before being drafted into the United States
  Army Air Forces in 1943; he attended aircraft mechanic school in
  Reno, Nevada, and was deployed with the 9th Air Force to England,
  where he served with the 365th Fighter Group and the 36th Mobile
  Reclamation and Repair Unit, recovering and restoring downed
  aircraft; he landed in Normandy shortly after the Allied invasion
  and served in France and Germany through the end of the war; and
         WHEREAS, After returning to the States, Mr. Havis attended
  Lee College and began a long and productive career with Lubrizol
  Corporation; he worked in the company's Deer Park and Bayport
  plants and retired in 1986 after 32 years of dedicated service; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Havis found a life partner in his wife, Janice
  Havis, with whom he shared more than six decades; the couple were
  blessed with two sons, Dwayne and Neal; and
         WHEREAS, In his leisure time, Mr. Havis enjoyed his
  membership in the Bayshore Fine Rides Car Club and the Lubrizol
  Legends; he was an avid fisherman and hunter, and he took special
  pleasure in tending to the fruit trees, hibiscus plants, and cream
  peas in his backyard garden; and
         WHEREAS, Jack Havis treasured the time he spent in the
  company of his family and friends, and those he leaves behind will
  forever cherish their memories of this kind and caring man; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Jack Hinton Havis
  and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his
  wife, Janice Havis; to his sons, Dwayne Havis and his wife, Celeste,
  and Neal Havis; to his sister-in-law, Nan Bishop Owens; to his
  sister, Mary Clanton, and her husband, Dalton; to his niece, Alecia
  Boxley, and her husband, Edwin; and to his other relatives and
  friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jack Hinton
  Havis.
