R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced
  by a great and enduring love, Jerry and Rose Nichols celebrated
  their 60th wedding anniversary on January 4, 2013; and
         WHEREAS, Jerry Lee Nichols and Rose Marie Nichols met on a
  blind date in October 1952, and they were united in matrimony at a
  ceremony held in Bel-Nor, Missouri, a few months later; over the
  years, they have nurtured a fulfilling marriage that has been made
  even richer with the addition of two children, Daniel and Danette,
  as well as two grandchildren, Elijah and Mackenzie; and
         WHEREAS, Pastor Nichols earned his master of divinity degree
  from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, while Mrs. Nichols worked at a
  local hospital; after entering the ministry, Pastor Nichols
  established new churches across Texas, and Mrs. Nichols assisted
  him in his work by performing clerical duties; since his retirement
  in 1998, Pastor Nichols has continued his service as a volunteer
  chaplain at Methodist Richardson Medical Center; in addition, the
  couple participated in cross-cultural ministry at Living Water
  Community Church in northeast Richardson for several years; and
         WHEREAS, Active in their community, Pastor and Mrs. Nichols
  have also contributed their time and talents as volunteers for
  their state representative; moreover, Pastor Nichols is a graduate
  of Leadership Richardson; and
         WHEREAS, While innumerable changes have taken place in the
  world during the past six decades, this devoted husband and wife
  have remained constant in their commitment to each other, and the
  strength of their love has enabled them to meet life's challenges
  and opportunities with grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Jerry and Rose Nichols on their
  60th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for
  continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Pastor and Mrs. Nichols as an expression of high regard
  by the Texas House of Representatives.
