R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced |
|
|
by a great and enduring love, Jerry and Rose Nichols celebrated |
|
|
their 60th wedding anniversary on January 4, 2013; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Jerry Lee Nichols and Rose Marie Nichols met on a |
|
|
blind date in October 1952, and they were united in matrimony at a |
|
|
ceremony held in Bel-Nor, Missouri, a few months later; over the |
|
|
years, they have nurtured a fulfilling marriage that has been made |
|
|
even richer with the addition of two children, Daniel and Danette, |
|
|
as well as two grandchildren, Elijah and Mackenzie; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Pastor Nichols earned his master of divinity degree |
|
|
from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, while Mrs. Nichols worked at a |
|
|
local hospital; after entering the ministry, Pastor Nichols |
|
|
established new churches across Texas, and Mrs. Nichols assisted |
|
|
him in his work by performing clerical duties; since his retirement |
|
|
in 1998, Pastor Nichols has continued his service as a volunteer |
|
|
chaplain at Methodist Richardson Medical Center; in addition, the |
|
|
couple participated in cross-cultural ministry at Living Water |
|
|
Community Church in northeast Richardson for several years; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Active in their community, Pastor and Mrs. Nichols |
|
|
have also contributed their time and talents as volunteers for |
|
|
their state representative; moreover, Pastor Nichols is a graduate |
|
|
of Leadership Richardson; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, While innumerable changes have taken place in the |
|
|
world during the past six decades, this devoted husband and wife |
|
|
have remained constant in their commitment to each other, and the |
|
|
strength of their love has enabled them to meet life's challenges |
|
|
and opportunities with grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Jerry and Rose Nichols on their |
|
|
60th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for |
|
|
continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Pastor and Mrs. Nichols as an expression of high regard |
|
|
by the Texas House of Representatives. |
