R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, Rebekah Steely Brooker of Dallas has been named the |
|
|
2013-2014 president-elect of the Texas Young Lawyers Association; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Since 2011, Ms. Brooker has served on the |
|
|
organization's board of directors, and she is an executive advisor |
|
|
to the Low Income Texans and Community Education Committees, as |
|
|
well as a former treasurer; a two-time recipient of the TYLA |
|
|
President's Award of Merit, she has been involved with a number of |
|
|
the association's public service projects, and she is the creator |
|
|
and coauthor of the "Texas Probate Passport" and cocreator and |
|
|
coauthor of "Dealing with Dementia"; in addition, she serves on the |
|
|
board of the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers and was named its |
|
|
Outstanding Committee Chair in 2007; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Brooker graduated magna cum laude from Texas A&M |
|
|
University and completed her law degree at Southern Methodist |
|
|
University Dedman School of Law; an attorney with Passman & Jones, |
|
|
she manages the firm's estate planning and administration practice |
|
|
as well as its probate practice; she primarily focuses on |
|
|
administering trusts and estates and counseling clients on estate |
|
|
planning, charitable planning, asset protection, and estate and |
|
|
trust management; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Through her dedicated efforts in behalf of the Texas |
|
|
Young Lawyers Association, Rebekah Brooker has greatly benefited |
|
|
her profession, and she may indeed take pride in her |
|
|
accomplishments; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Rebekah Steely Brooker on her |
|
|
selection as the 2013-2014 president-elect of the Texas Young |
|
|
Lawyers Association and that she be extended sincere best wishes |
|
|
for a successful tenure; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Brooker as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
