R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Lieutenant Rick Gilley is retiring from the Midland |
|
Police Department in June 2013, drawing to a close a notable career |
|
in law enforcement that has spanned nearly three decades; and |
|
WHEREAS, Lieutenant Gilley has served in the department since |
|
1985; he graduated from the Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement |
|
Management Institute of Texas in 1996, and he earned his Texas |
|
Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education |
|
Master Peace Officer certificate that same year; he later graduated |
|
from the FBI National Academy during its 195th session in 1998; and |
|
WHEREAS, In addition to his regular duties, Lieutenant Gilley |
|
has served on numerous dignitary protection details for key |
|
government officials, including those for former presidents and |
|
vice presidents of the United States; he has earned many |
|
commendations through the years, and he is the recipient of the |
|
department's Distinguished Service Medal and its Medal of Service |
|
Award; and |
|
WHEREAS, Lieutenant Gilley's dedication, professionalism, |
|
and commitment to protecting the safety and welfare of the public |
|
have greatly benefited the citizens of Midland, and he may indeed |
|
reflect with pride on his accomplishments as he embarks on the next |
|
exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Rick Gilley on his retirement from |
|
the Midland Police Department and extend to him sincere best wishes |
|
for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Lieutenant Gilley as an expression of high regard by |
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
