R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Bill Johnson of Wimberley is marking a special
  milestone in his life with the observance of his 90th birthday on
  May 25, 2013; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Houston in 1923, William Parks Johnson
  served his country in the United States Marine Corps during World
  War II; he was wounded in the Battle of Iwo Jima and subsequently
  received the Purple Heart; later, he attended The University of
  Texas at Austin, and as a student he met and married Mary Frances
  Brown; they have now shared more than 60 years as husband and wife;
  and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson began farming and ranching in the
  Wimberley area in the 1940s; at about that same time, he also helped
  to establish Camp Longhorn, and during the 35 years that he served
  as camp director, this esteemed Texan mentored thousands of
  children and young adults; though he retired in 1978, Mr. Johnson
  continues to play an active role in his community, where he has been
  instrumental in the founding of a new church; moreover, he is an
  expert in the history of the area and the author of numerous books;
  above all, he cherishes his family, which has grown to include five
  children, Lynn, Jock, Clay, Blake, and Scott, and three
  grandchildren, Caraline, Lauren, and Andrew; and
         WHEREAS, Bill Johnson is a treasured source of wisdom and an
  inspiration to all who know him, and it is a pleasure to honor him on
  nine decades of life well lived; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Bill Johnson on his 90th birthday
  and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Johnson as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
