R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The members of the Friendswood High School varsity
  color guard have distinguished themselves through their
  exceptional achievements during the 2013 season; and
         WHEREAS, On March 2, the Mustang performers emerged
  victorious at the Winter Guard International Houston Regional
  event, and they went on to claim the Southwestern Color Guard
  Championship two weeks later in Denton with the performance of
  their program "The Forest Through the Trees"; and
         WHEREAS, The team next took part in the Texas Color Guard
  Circuit Championships on April 7 in College Station and claimed the
  state title in the Scholastic World Class, the highest level of
  color guard competition; following those impressive triumphs,
  Friendswood competed in the WGI Color Guard World Championships,
  held April 11 through 13 in Dayton, Ohio, where the Mustangs
  advanced to the semifinal round; and
         WHEREAS, Led by director Ron Barnett, the team benefits from
  the contributions of each of its talented members: Hayley Boswell,
  Caitlin Brewer, Emilee Clyburn, Alexandra Ess, Kaile Guidry, Nicole
  Krouse, Emily Mahon, Michelle Martin, Holly McGowan, Callie
  Pizzitola, Angie Puebla, Hannah Ratliff, Michaela Stanch, Laura
  Tarver, Melanie Theriault, Alissa Williams, and Bailey Woeltjen;
  and
         WHEREAS, The skill, determination, and enthusiasm
  demonstrated by the Friendswood High School varsity color guard
  performers have resulted in notable success at the state and
  national level, and the team is a source of great pride to its
  school and community; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Friendswood High School
  varsity color guard on its outstanding accomplishments during the
  2013 season and extend to all those associated with the team sincere
  best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
