R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Wranglerettes of Friendswood High School |
|
|
captured multiple championships at the American Dance/Drill Team |
|
|
National Competition held in Denton on March 22-23, 2013; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This year's fine showing marks the seventh straight |
|
|
year the team has earned a number of impressive titles, confirming |
|
|
the Wranglerettes as a true powerhouse in the sport; under the |
|
|
leadership of director Ashley Marmaro and assistant director Kelsey |
|
|
Baskin, the FHS Wranglerettes were named national champions in the |
|
|
team lyrical category, and they took first runner-up in team kick |
|
|
and team jazz; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In addition to the squad's victories, the dance |
|
|
officers earned a national championship title in the hip hop and |
|
|
contemporary categories and placed second in jazz, the social |
|
|
officers won first runner-up in their competition, and the Illusion |
|
|
and Dream ensembles took first and second place, respectively, in |
|
|
their bracket; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Wranglerette soloists also excelled in their |
|
|
categories; Katelyn Begnaud, as second runner-up, and Kayla |
|
|
Petersen, as third runner-up, were both named National Solo |
|
|
Finalists out of a field of 415 competitors; furthermore, |
|
|
Friendswood senior Kayla Cox earned a spot in the Miss American High |
|
|
Kick company after placing second in the audition; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The 2012-2013 Wranglerettes achieved another |
|
|
successful season thanks to the hard work of each of its members, |
|
|
including Sydney Armstrong, Rayme Batts, Katelyn Begnaud, Carlee |
|
|
Bell, Paige Bloskas, Madison Brown, Rebecca Burke, Katie Cole, |
|
|
Kayla Cox, Melissa Crowder, Mary DeVillez, Kristin Endahl, |
|
|
Katherine Ferazzi, Kristen Foster, Madison Hever, Haylee Hobb, |
|
|
Haley Holtje, Jamie Howison, Jordan Karam, Morgan Kennedy, Noele |
|
|
Kutz, Madison Lucas, Sarah McAdams, Audrey McKee, Maegan Mohr, |
|
|
Audra Motley, Grace Naylor, Sam Nobles, Kayla Petersen, Arden |
|
|
Prendergast, Kelly Ratcliff, Megan Robjohns, Kendall Schlicht, |
|
|
Jessica Shannon, Kayti Stanley, Allie Thompson, Nicole Toler, |
|
|
Olivia Trevino, Katarina Unger, Amanda Vernon, Cassidy Weeks, and |
|
|
Caitlyn Williamson; managers Lauren Sauer, Kelly Pitman, and Brett |
|
|
Westrum also provided invaluable support to the team; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The FHS Wranglerettes demonstrated talent, |
|
|
dedication, and a commitment to excellence in their preparation for |
|
|
this prestigious event, and their efforts were rewarded with a |
|
|
season they will remember with great pride for years to come; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Wranglerettes of Friendswood |
|
|
High School on their outstanding performances at the 2013 American |
|
|
Dance/Drill Team National Competition and extend to all those |
|
|
associated with the team sincere best wishes for continued success; |
|
|
and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
