R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Cross Roads High School student Brandon Davis has |
|
been named a recipient of a Luminant Power Track Scholarship; and |
|
WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Luminant power generation company, |
|
the program recognizes distinguished high school seniors who are |
|
interested in a career in power plant or mining operations; each |
|
recipient is provided with funding to pursue an associate's degree |
|
as well as the opportunity to gain invaluable experience though a |
|
paid internship with Luminant; and |
|
WHEREAS, The Power Track Scholarship, which covers tuition |
|
and books, allows students to choose one of four degree paths at |
|
three partner colleges: power plant technology at Tyler Junior |
|
College, mechanical technology or instrumentation and control at |
|
Texas State Technical College in Waco, or electrical technology at |
|
Panola College in Carthage; and |
|
WHEREAS, Selected from nearly 300 applicants, Brandon Davis |
|
joins 30 other outstanding students in the company's third |
|
scholarship class, and he will begin his college studies in the fall |
|
of 2013; and |
|
WHEREAS, This noteworthy young Texan has worked toward his |
|
goals with great diligence and resolve, and he may reflect with |
|
pride on his accomplishments as he looks forward to a future bright |
|
with promise; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Brandon Davis on his receipt of a |
|
Luminant Power Track Scholarship and extend to him sincere best |
|
wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Davis as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
