R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The tennis team from Robinson High School made a
  strong showing in the University Interscholastic League 3A Region
  III tournament in Bryan on April 15 and 16, 2013, qualifying one
  singles player and one doubles team for the state tournament; and
         WHEREAS, Seeded number two in the regional competition, Jacob
  Wingate punched his ticket to state with a solid performance; he
  dropped only one game in his first two matches and won his semifinal
  6-4, 6-4 before falling to the top-seeded player in the final by a
  score of 3-6, 3-6; and
         WHEREAS, The doubles combination of McKenna Kramer and Kayla
  Hill-Johnson also earned a slot in the state tournament by claiming
  second place against their regional foes; the duo powered through
  their first three matches to reach the final, and though they lost
  that showdown, they turned in a strong performance in the
  consolation playback round, prevailing 6-7, 6-1, 6-3 to secure
  their runner-up position; and
         WHEREAS, Under the skillful guidance of coaches Jack Gregory
  and Jodi Olson, six other members of the Robinson team also
  qualified for the regional tournament and gained valuable
  experience that will benefit them next season: Nikki Bright, Eric
  Bortz, Kerry Carriveau, Brianna Docherty, Savannah Hill-Johnson,
  and Hunter Goolsby; and
         WHEREAS, The 2012-2013 Robinson players continued their
  school's tradition of tennis excellence, and these dedicated
  athletes may take great pride in the skill that they have
  demonstrated throughout the year; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Robinson High School tennis
  team on its success at the UIL 3A Region III tournament and extend
  to the team's players and coaches sincere best wishes for the
  future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
