R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Members of the 2012-2013 cohort of the Peer
  Assistance and Leadership program at McGregor High School were
  recognized and new students were inducted into the program at the
  2013 PALs annual banquet; and
         WHEREAS, McGregor PALs contribute to their school and
  community by serving as student role models and leaders; they
  welcome incoming freshmen, run the Keeping Tobacco Away from Kids
  program for fourth graders, and assist with elementary school field
  day activities; in addition, they help with preparing for
  McGregor's Founders' Day festivities, contribute to the work of the
  local food pantry, aid with city cleanup days, and collect toys to
  give to children at holiday time; PALs have also volunteered with
  Relay for Life for the past decade; and
         WHEREAS, Those who have participated in the PAL program
  during the 2012-2013 academic year are Alondra Acevedo, Beth Keith,
  Travis Lightfoot, Mario Ocampo, Irving Pantoja, Kaitlyn Tisser,
  Darlisha Blaylock, Paden Lester, Kaitlyn Merritt, Jose Orozco,
  Xavier Ramirez, Elvia Barrera, Nancy Garcia, Kayla Tucker, Chris
  Jenkins, Eduardo Reyes, Tim Schaeffer, LeeAuna Clayborn, Katy
  Simons, Heath Huffman, Jazy Mendoza, Garrett Salas, and Jaret
  White; special scholarships were presented to Mr. Ramirez,
  Mr. Ocampo, and Mr. Pantoja for their efforts; and
         WHEREAS, Fourteen new students were officially inducted into
  the PAL program, after receiving nominations from teachers,
  submitting essays, and being interviewed by a committee; the
  incoming PAL students for the 2013-2014 school year are Sergio
  Espinosa, Freddy Hernandez, Ulises Hernandez, Kyle Hutchinson,
  Hunter January, Trevor Peck, Taylor Robinson, Alma Garcia, Jaycee
  Green, Stefani Jimenez, Kiana Lane, Hope Lenamon, Mariyah Tucker,
  and Adrianna Williams; and
         WHEREAS, The McGregor PALs are benefiting their fellow
  students and the community at large while developing confidence and
  skills that will serve them well in the coming years, and they may
  reflect with pride on their many achievements; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby honor the members and inductees of the Peer
  Assistance and Leadership program at McGregor High School and
  extend to them sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the program as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
