R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories |
|
of Nellie Marie Poncho Sylestine of Livingston, who passed away on |
|
April 20, 2013, at the age of 63; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born on the Alabama-Coushatta Indian Reservation on |
|
November 20, 1949, the former Nellie Poncho was the daughter of |
|
Raymond and Nettie Poncho; an accomplished craftsperson, she was |
|
known for her beautiful pottery, basketry, and beadwork; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Sylestine found a life partner in her husband, |
|
Lowell Sylestine, and the couple were blessed with four children, |
|
Grayson, Vanessa, Felicia, and Kerrie; Mrs. Sylestine also served |
|
as an enduring source of inspiration and wisdom to her 10 |
|
grandchildren and to her great-grandchild; and |
|
WHEREAS, Nellie Sylestine lived a rich and purposeful life, |
|
and she will be remembered with admiration and affection by all |
|
those who had the good fortune to know her; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Nellie Marie Poncho |
|
Sylestine and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: |
|
to her children, Grayson Williams, Vanessa Williams, Felicia |
|
Littlecreek and her husband, Matt, and Kerrie Sylestine and her |
|
husband, Dustyn; to her grandchildren, Taino Williams, Ashley, |
|
Gregory, Alannah, and Dwight Battise, Clancy and Matty Littlecreek, |
|
and Lenayah, Aionna, and Kamea Moreno; to her great-grandchild, |
|
Yaheira Battise; to her siblings, Anna Lou Obe, Sharon Morris, |
|
Jennifer Poncho, Melinda Sylestine and her husband, Don, Roland |
|
Poncho and his wife, Delores, and Rodney Poncho; and to her many |
|
other relatives and friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Nellie |
|
Marie Poncho Sylestine. |
