R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Barbara Spreuer Meyer of Dallas passed away on April
  8, 2013, leaving her circle of loved ones to cherish their many
  happy memories of time spent in her company; and
         WHEREAS, Born on August 22, 1929, in Fort Wayne, Indiana,
  Barbara Spreuer earned a bachelor's degree from Indiana University;
  she married Frederick R. Meyer, and the couple spent 57 years of
  devoted matrimony together; along the way, they became the parents
  of three children, Amy, Cheri, and Brad, and their family
  eventually grew to include five grandchildren and two
  great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Meyer worked as a personnel director for a
  major grocery store chain for several years before focusing
  full-time on raising her children and caring for the home; after
  initially residing in Fort Wayne, she and her husband lived in El
  Paso, Cambridge, and Nashville before settling in Dallas in 1967,
  and Mrs. Meyer was adept at organizing to make the moves easy for
  the entire household; and
         WHEREAS, She contributed to her church, along with her
  husband, by teaching classes to young couples preparing to marry,
  and she was involved in the larger community as the cohost of
  regular garage sales and home tours that raised funds for the
  Republican Party; and
         WHEREAS, In her leisure time, Mrs. Meyer enjoyed spending
  vacations and holidays at the family's Galveston beach house and
  pursuing her interest in woodcraft, for which she had a special
  talent; moreover, she took pleasure in the companionship of her
  beloved dog, Maggie; and
         WHEREAS, With her devotion, wisdom, and kindness, Barbara
  Meyer made a meaningful difference in the lives of those who knew
  her best, and she will be remembered with great admiration and
  affection for many years to come; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Barbara Spreuer
  Meyer and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to
  her daughters, Cheri and Amy; to her grandchildren, Justin and
  Brandon Bouldin, Scott and Kelsey Barrentine, and Kristen Meyer; to
  her great-grandsons, Xavier and Alexander Bouldin; and to her other
  relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Barbara
  Meyer.
