R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, The City of Richardson has announced that its
  recently opened Fire Station No. 4 has achieved a Leadership in
  Energy and Environmental Design for New Construction (LEED NC)
  certification; and
         WHEREAS, LEED NC buildings are designed to be efficient and
  have a lower impact on the environment and must meet certain
  standards and qualities specified by the U.S. Green Building
  Council (USGBC), and earning the certification helps lay the
  foundation for sustainable operations and maintenance practices at
  the facility post-construction; and
         WHEREAS, Located at 1500 Apollo Road, Fire Station No. 4 was
  funded by Richardson's 2010 bond program; the building's LEED
  design features include a high-efficiency air conditioning and
  heating system with added insulation and a combination of
  sustainable or recycled materials in the structural foundation,
  lumber, and much of the millwork; and
         WHEREAS, All of Richardson's most recently constructed civic
  buildings have achieved LEED certification from the USGBC, in
  accordance with the city council's environmental goals; in addition
  to Fire Station No. 4, the Richardson Gymnastics Center is designed
  to meet LEED certification standards, and the new Heights
  Recreation Center, which is expected to open in late May, and a new
  Fire Training and Emergency Operations Center have both been
  designed to meet LEED certification standards; and
         WHEREAS, Richardson has been repeatedly recognized as one of
  the top places to live and work by national media sources, and the
  city's commitment to ensuring a healthy environment for its
  residents contributes to its success; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the City of Richardson on earning
  LEED NC certification for Fire Station No. 4 and extend to all those
  involved with achieving this designation sincere best wishes for
  continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the City of Richardson as an expression of high regard
  by the Texas House of Representatives.
