R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Throughout her 91 years, Ernestina Esquivel Cavada
  of Corpus Christi has greatly enriched the lives of her family and
  friends with her kindness, wisdom, and generosity; and
         WHEREAS, Born to Marcelino and Maria Del Refugio Esquivel on
  October 16, 1921, the former Ernestina Esquivel was raised in La
  Joya, the only daughter in a family that included five sons; her
  mother passed away when she was 10 years old, and Mrs. Cavada
  subsequently helped raise her brothers while continuing to excel in
  her studies; she graduated as valedictorian of her class at La Joya
  High School in 1940; and
         WHEREAS, The following year, she married Ruben D. Cavada, and
  the couple moved across the country in support of her husband's
  service in the U.S. Navy during World War II; they later settled in
  Corpus Christi and became the proud parents of three children,
  Armando, Abel, and Alicia; with the passing years, Mrs. Cavada has
  delighted in welcoming into her family 11 grandchildren, all of
  whom have college degrees, and 13 great-grandchildren; Mrs.
  Cavada's life has been centered around her Catholic faith, her
  determined focus on education, and her loved ones, who are paying
  special tribute to this esteemed Texan at the 2013 Esquivel Family
  Reunion; and
         WHEREAS, Ernestina Esquivel Cavada may reflect with great
  satisfaction on a lifetime of achievement, and it is a pleasure to
  join her friends and family in reminding her of the high regard in
  which she is held by all who are privileged to know her; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Ernestina Esquivel Cavada on 91 years of
  life well lived and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued
  happiness and good fortune; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mrs. Cavada as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
