R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A life filled with meaningful accomplishments drew
  to a close with the passing of David George Luckstead of Corpus
  Christi on March 14, 2013, at the age of 81; and
         WHEREAS, Born in 1931 in Charlotte, Iowa, Mr. Luckstead was
  the son of Edwin and Luella Luckstead; he served in the United
  States Army as a combat engineer and a paratrooper, and he later
  earned a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Iowa State
  University, where he was a member of the Tau Beta Pi honor society;
  he settled in Corpus Christi around 1960 and earned his living for
  many years as a financial consultant; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Luckstead was preceded in death by his wife, Eva
  Sanchez Luckstead, and he was the father of six children, Erica,
  Mark, Linda, Lee, Jon, and Lisa; with the passing years, his family
  grew to include three grandchildren, Joanna, Daniel, and Hayden;
  and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Luckstead took great enjoyment in travel and had
  the opportunity to visit Monaco, Brazil, and South Africa; other
  highlights of his life included his efforts to help found the Corpus
  Christi Botanical Gardens and his participation in walkathons on
  Padre Island; and
         WHEREAS, David Luckstead treasured the time he spent in the
  company of his family and friends, and those he leaves behind will
  in turn cherish their memories of this kind and caring man, who
  shared many wonderful stories with them through the years; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of David George
  Luckstead and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family:
  to his children, Erica, Mark, Lee, Jon, and Lisa Luckstead and Linda
  Benskin; to his grandchildren, Joanna and Daniel Benskin and Hayden
  West; to his brother, Jon Daniel Luckstead; to his first wife,
  Ingrid Lansford; to his niece, Amy Luckstead DeMint; to his
  brothers-in-law, Tony and David Sanchez, and to Tony's children,
  Eva Marie Leyva and Paula Sanchez; and to his other relatives and
  friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of David
  Luckstead.
