R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Brenham High School Belles Dance Team took a |
|
|
number of top honors at the 2013 MA National Dance and Auxiliary |
|
|
Championship, which was held in Fort Worth on March 22-23; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, During the event, more than 1,000 routines were |
|
|
performed by 70 dance teams from across the United States and as far |
|
|
away as South Africa; led by director LaNae Kocian, the Belles |
|
|
collected an impressive array of trophies over the course of the |
|
|
weekend; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Competing in the small team category, the Belles |
|
|
claimed national championships in contemporary dance and in high |
|
|
kick and placed second in both lyrical and jazz; the team also |
|
|
received the award for outstanding dance technique; in addition, |
|
|
the four officers of the Belles were named national champions in the |
|
|
small team officers line division; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This exceptional troupe is composed of officers |
|
|
Morgan Hampton, major, Bonnie Sturrock, captain, Kaci Jozwiak, 1st |
|
|
lieutenant, and Samantha Lindsey, 2nd lieutenant, along with Emily |
|
|
Marcos, Haley Fender, Mackenzie Summar, Meg Jahns, Meri-Margaret |
|
|
Miller, Brook Klussmann, Cara Bentke, Allyson Colvin, Addyson |
|
|
Schroeder, and Kelsi Bliznak; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Belles' outstanding performance was the result |
|
|
of talent, cooperative effort, and countless hours of hard work, |
|
|
and team members may take justifiable pride in their achievements; |
|
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Brenham High School Belles |
|
|
Dance Team on its showing at the 2013 Marching Auxiliaries national |
|
|
competition and commend the many individuals who contributed to the |
|
|
team's success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
