R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Those young people who give of their time and |
|
|
talents to assist in the demanding work of the Texas Legislature are |
|
|
truly deserving of our gratitude and admiration, and Jessica Kolmer |
|
|
is one such individual; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Originally from Washington, D.C., Ms. Kolmer served |
|
|
as a legislative intern in the office of State Representative |
|
|
Elliott Naishtat from January to May 2013, and her commitment, |
|
|
dedication, and perseverance were always greatly appreciated by her |
|
|
colleagues; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The expertise brought by Ms. Kolmer in the area of |
|
|
health and human services was particularly valuable to both |
|
|
Representative Naishtat's staff and his constituents, and in |
|
|
assisting citizens and advocates alike with questions relating to |
|
|
these areas, she saw firsthand the ability of public officials to |
|
|
have an impact on policy; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Kolmer has received her master of science degree |
|
|
in social work from the School of Social Work at The University of |
|
|
Texas at Austin, and her hands-on experience with the workings of |
|
|
state government will no doubt empower her to thrive as a |
|
|
macro-social worker; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Although the end of her tenure is bittersweet, her |
|
|
colleagues share her excitement in a future that is illuminated |
|
|
with promise; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby honor Jessica Kolmer for her service as a |
|
|
legislative intern with the Texas House of Representatives and |
|
|
extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success and |
|
|
happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Kolmer as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
