R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Mizzen and Main is celebrating its first anniversary |
|
|
in 2013, and this milestone provides a welcome opportunity to honor |
|
|
this Texas-based enterprise; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Founded by Kevin Lavelle, Web Smith, and Steven |
|
|
DeWitt, Mizzen and Main manufactures American-made, |
|
|
moisture-wicking, wrinkle-free dress shirts as well as other |
|
|
garments for men and women; with offices in Dallas and in Columbus, |
|
|
Ohio, the company offers its products online and through local |
|
|
boutique retailers; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Dedicated to making a positive impact through its |
|
|
business operations, Mizzen and Main donates a portion of its sales |
|
|
to benefit wounded veterans and their families; in addition, the |
|
|
company has developed "A Shirt for a Start," an innovative program |
|
|
that provides veterans with paid internships, helping them to gain |
|
|
valuable entrepreneurial experience and industry connections as a |
|
|
means of advancing their careers; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Independent businesses that are engaged in their |
|
|
communities play an important role in the prosperity and vitality |
|
|
of the Lone Star State, and Mizzen and Main can take pride in |
|
|
contributing to that tradition; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Mizzen and Main on its first |
|
|
anniversary and extend to its founders and staff sincere best |
|
|
wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the company as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
