R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The Mexican American Legislative Caucus, the oldest |
|
and largest Latino caucus in the nation, is marking the 40th |
|
anniversary of its founding in 2013; and |
|
WHEREAS, Established in 1973, the Mexican American |
|
Legislative Caucus is a nonprofit and nonpartisan entity dedicated |
|
to advancing issues important to the Texas Latino community; the |
|
caucus additionally acts as an informational clearinghouse for |
|
members and nonmembers alike, providing research on the potential |
|
implications of legislative action; and |
|
WHEREAS, Composed of members united by the goal of ensuring |
|
fair representation for all Texans, MALC serves as a strong and |
|
cohesive voice in the legislative process; in the years since its |
|
inception, it has benefited from the leadership and participation |
|

WHEREAS, Today, the legislators who form the Mexican American |
|
Legislative Caucus continue to build on its proud tradition of |
|
advocacy, and it is indeed a privilege to recognize their vital |
|
contributions and those of their predecessors during this milestone |
|
year; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Mexican |
|
American Legislative Caucus and honor all of its members, past and |
|
present, for their service to the citizens of Texas; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the caucus as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
