H.R. No. 2282

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, Shelby Lacey is graduating as the salutatorian of the Class of 2013 at Glen Rose High School; and

WHEREAS, Earning the title of salutatorian requires not only intellect and aptitude, but also four years of dedication to the highest academic standards; to attain this coveted distinction, Ms. Lacey demonstrated a thorough understanding of a wide range of subjects, and the rewards of the countless hours she has devoted to her studies are myriad; and

WHEREAS, In addition to her classroom endeavors, Ms. Lacey has been a member of the National Honor Society as well as the varsity tennis, varsity cheer, volleyball, and track teams, and she regularly volunteers at a local nursing home; after graduation, she plans on earning a degree in biology with a minor in genetics with the goal of one day attending medical school and pursuing a career in neurological research; and

WHEREAS, The daughter of proud parents Kent and Janelle Lacey, Ms. Lacey has earned the respect and admiration of her teachers and classmates at Glen Rose High, and her exceptional scholastic ability, hard work, and commitment to excellence have opened the way to limitless opportunities for this remarkable young Texan; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Shelby Lacey, salutatorian of the Glen Rose High School Class of 2013, and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success as she begins the next exciting chapter of her life; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Lacey as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
