R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, Sharon Wolverton has been named the salutatorian of the Class of 2013 at Evant High School; and

WHEREAS, Earning the title of salutatorian requires not only intellect and aptitude, but also four years of dedication to the highest academic standards; to attain this coveted distinction, Ms. Wolverton demonstrated a thorough understanding of a wide range of subjects, and she faced the challenges of her dyslexia with determination, proudly reaping the rewards of the countless hours she has devoted to her studies; and

WHEREAS, The daughter of Kelly and Susan Wolverton, Ms. Wolverton has served as president of the FFA and vice president of the student council; a member of the BETA Club, she has also enjoyed considerable success in University Interscholastic League academic events, participating in her school's winning teams in the current events, history, and literary criticism competitions, as well as the one-act play contest; a talented scholar-athlete, Ms. Wolverton has been a member of the volleyball team, where she earned Academic All-District honors; after graduation, she plans to attend Howard Payne University to study special education and psychology; and

WHEREAS, Exciting challenges and opportunities await this outstanding young Texan, and it is a pleasure to join in recognizing her as she embarks on a future bright with promise; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Sharon Wolverton on being named salutatorian of the Evant High School Class of 2013 and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success as she begins the next exciting chapter of her life; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Wolverton as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
