R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Friends and family are mourning the loss of U.S. Air |
|
Force Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) Albert Coolley Lloyd, Jr., of |
|
Austin, who passed away on March 18, 2012, at the age of 74; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born on May 17, 1937, Al Lloyd began his military |
|
career in 1956 when he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force; he |
|
subsequently served in the Texas Air National Guard from 1961 to |
|
1995; Colonel Lloyd completed 33 enlisted and officer courses and |
|
received 27 federal and state medals and decorations; and |
|
WHEREAS, Over the course of nearly four decades of service to |
|
his country, Colonel Lloyd developed an unmatched knowledge of |
|
military administrative policy and personnel and computer systems; |
|
he created an advanced personnel data program that had a major |
|
impact on all branches of the armed forces in Texas, and he oversaw |
|
an awards program for Air National Guard judge advocates and |
|
paralegals; for 18 years, he held the position of director of |
|
military personnel and data systems with the adjutant general's |
|
department; moreover, he served as clerk to the Texas Court of |
|
Military Appeals; and |
|
WHEREAS, After retiring, Colonel Lloyd volunteered at the |
|
Texas Military Forces Museum, cataloguing a vast amount of |
|
historical material, and served as president of the Texas Military |
|
Forces Historical Foundation; and |
|
WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Colonel Lloyd enjoyed the |
|
love and support of his wife of 32 years, Bertha Lloyd, and he took |
|
pride in a fine family that included two daughters, Deana and |
|
Roberta, five grandchildren, Morgan, Monica, Lawrence, Moriah, and |
|
Jared, and several great-grandchildren; he also delighted in time |
|
spent with his prized Yorkshire terriers, Sir Kahlua, Mia Kaye, and |
|
Ira Panzer; and |
|
WHEREAS, Colonel Lloyd left a lasting imprint on the Texas |
|
Air National Guard and the Texas military community through his |
|
professional achievements, and his exceptional contributions will |
|
continue to resonate in the Lone Star State and beyond; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Air Force |
|
Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) Albert Coolley Lloyd, Jr., and extend |
|
sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Bertha |
|
Lloyd; to his daughters, Deana Maree Harris and her husband, Ron, |
|
and Roberta "Robbi" Lloyd and her partner, Octavia LeJeune; to his |
|
grandchildren, Morgan Lee Blanchard and his wife, Crystal, Monica |
|
Maree Marler and her husband, Jon, Lawrence Albert Blanchard and |
|
his wife, Mindi, Moriah Ann Saenz and her husband, J. J., and Jared |
|
Wayne Harris; to his great-grandchildren; to his sister, Virginia |
|
"Ginny" Isabelle Wood and her partner, Nancy Tobin; to his brother, |
|
Robert "Bob" William Lloyd; and to his other relatives and friends; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Lieutenant |
|
Colonel (Ret.) Albert Coolley Lloyd, Jr. |
