R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, The Reverend Jimmy Allen and his wife, Anneta, |
|
|
retired from the First Assembly of God Church in Canton after more |
|
|
than 26 years of faithful service, and they were honored by the |
|
|
congregation on April 28, 2013; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Jimmy Allen and the former Anneta McGee were united |
|
|
in matrimony in 1963 and began their ministry together shortly |
|
|
thereafter; before being called to Canton, Pastor Allen served as |
|
|
youth pastor at Skyline Assembly of God in Dallas, as minister of |
|
|
Christian education and as children's pastor at Calvary Temple |
|
|
Assembly of God in Mesquite, and as pastor at Barton's Chapel |
|
|
Assembly of God in Murchison; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The couple joined First Assembly in the mid-1980s, |
|
|
and under their leadership, the church has expanded to better |
|
|
accommodate its many members; among the accomplishments overseen by |
|
|
Pastor and Mrs. Allen are the addition of a 7,600-square-foot |
|
|
educational building, an extensive remodeling of the main hall, and |
|
|
the completion of a paved parking lot; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In all of their endeavors, the Allens enjoy the love |
|
|
and support of their children, Janna and Jeff, and their lives are |
|
|
further enriched by four granddaughters and four |
|
|
great-grandchildren; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Jimmy and Anneta Allen greatly benefited First |
|
|
Assembly of God Church with their insight, wisdom, and dedication, |
|
|
and their outstanding efforts earned them the respect and |
|
|
admiration of countless people; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Reverend Jimmy Allen and Anneta |
|
|
Allen on their retirement from First Assembly of God Church in |
|
|
Canton and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued |
|
|
happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Pastor and Mrs. Allen as an expression of high regard |
|
|
by the Texas House of Representatives. |
