R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, Shantal Ortega of Amarillo has been participating in |
|
|
the 2013 Moreno/Rangel Legislative Leadership Program, and during |
|
|
the 83rd Legislative Session, she has ably served her fellow Texans |
|
|
as an aide in the office of State Representative Bobby Guerra; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Mexican American Legislative |
|
|
Leadership Foundation, this program offers outstanding university |
|
|
students and recent graduates an opportunity to serve as full-time |
|
|
policy interns in the offices of members of the Mexican American |
|
|
Legislative Caucus and to gain experience working with the Texas |
|
|
Legislature; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Ortega is a senior at Texas Tech University in |
|
|
Lubbock, where she is studying political science and history; after |
|
|
graduation, she plans to continue her education by earning a law |
|
|
degree; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Over the course of her tenure at the State Capitol, |
|
|
Shantal Ortega has been of great assistance to Representative |
|
|
Guerra's office, while acquiring knowledge of issues facing |
|
|
citizens of the Lone Star State; she has performed her duties as a |
|
|
legislative aide with skill, perseverance, and dedication, and she |
|
|
may indeed look forward to a rewarding future; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby honor Shantal Ortega as a participant in the |
|
|
2013 Moreno/Rangel Legislative Leadership Program and commend her |
|
|
for her notable contributions to the legislative process; and, be |
|
|
it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Ortega as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
