R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Joseph Slovacek of Houston was appointed to the
  board of the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles by Governor Rick
  Perry in May 2013; and
         WHEREAS, In his new role, Mr. Slovacek will work with his
  fellow board members to administer and enforce laws relating to
  such areas as certificates of title and registration of vehicles,
  motor transportation brokers, the sale or lease of motor vehicles,
  and salvage vehicle dealers; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan earned both undergraduate and
  law degrees from the University of Houston, and he is currently a
  senior partner at Hoover Slovacek LLP; he contributes his time and
  expertise to many professional organizations, including the
  Houston Building Owners and Managers Association, the Houston
  Realty Business Coalition, and the National Association of
  Industrial and Office Properties, and he serves on the executive
  committee advisory board of the University of Houston Bauer College
  of Business, Real Estate Certificate Degree Program; in 2013, he
  was appointed to the Grand Parkway Association by the Texas
  Transportation Commission; and
         WHEREAS, A charter member of the Deer Park Education
  Foundation, Mr. Slovacek has also given back to his fellow citizens
  as deputy commissioner of the Memorial Village Police Department
  and as a member of the Bunker Hill Village City Council; and
         WHEREAS, The effective operation of government depends on the
  involvement of committed and engaged individuals, and Joseph
  Slovacek has long proven himself to be an outstanding leader in his
  field; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Joseph Slovacek on his appointment
  to the board of the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles and extend to
  him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Slovacek as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
