R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Nine teams from the Capital Region of Destination
  Imagination are competing at the Global Finals in Knoxville,
  Tennessee, from May 22 to 25, 2013; and
         WHEREAS, Approximately 125,000 students from countries
  around the world participate each year in the Destination
  Imagination tournament, which promotes teamwork and creative
  problem solving through the use of science, technology,
  engineering, and math, as well as through the arts and service
  learning; groups cooperate in carrying out a service project to
  meet a community need or in finding innovative solutions to a
  variety of set challenges; they then present their projects or
  solutions at regional, state, and national events; and
         WHEREAS, Students from all over Texas competed at the 2013
  state tournament on April 12 and 13 in Katy, and the Capital Region
  teams made an excellent showing in their respective high school,
  middle school, and elementary school sections; in the "Real to
  Reel" Project Outreach competition, Cedar Park High School won
  first place and Westlake High School took third; the "Wind Visible"
  Challenge saw Rouse High School place second and Hill Country
  Christian School, competing at the middle school level, take fourth
  place; in the "In the Zone" Challenge, Vista Ridge High School won
  first place and Canyon Ridge Middle School placed third; a West
  Ridge Middle School team placed second in the "In Disguise"
  Challenge, while in the "Twist-O-Rama" Challenge, another West
  Ridge Middle School team placed first, as did Bridge Point
  Elementary School; and
         WHEREAS, In qualifying to compete at the national event,
  these outstanding young Texans have demonstrated talent,
  persistence, and enthusiasm for learning, and they are indeed
  deserving of recognition for their outstanding achievement; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the teams from the Capital Region
  that are advancing to the Destination Imagination Global Finals and
  extend to all the participating students sincere best wishes for
  continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
  for the teams as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of
  Representatives.
