R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Chris Cohen of Midland demonstrated remarkable
  courage when he rescued an elderly woman from her burning home on
  April 27, 2013; and
         WHEREAS, That fateful afternoon, Mr. Cohen was in his car on
  his way to pick up his two daughters when he saw thick, black smoke
  billowing from a house; an elderly man was standing on the front
  lawn, and Mr. Cohen stopped to find out if anyone was still inside;
  and
         WHEREAS, When he discovered that the man's wife had not yet
  made it out, Mr. Cohen dashed in through the front door; in the
  midst of the intense smoke, he found the woman on the floor in the
  entryway; he carried her outside to safety, and she was
  subsequently taken by ambulance to Midland Memorial Hospital to be
  treated for burns; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Cohen's quick and selfless action made all the
  difference between a desperate situation and a fatal one, and he is
  indeed deserving of special recognition for his outstanding
  heroism; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Chris Cohen for rescuing a fellow
  citizen from a house fire and extend to him sincere best wishes for
  all the good fortune he so richly deserves; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Cohen as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
