R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, During the 83rd Legislative Session, John Paul
  Thompson has ably served his fellow Texans as an intern in the
  office of State Representative Roberto Alonzo; and
         WHEREAS, Since joining the staff, Mr. Thompson has
  contributed to the workings of state government firsthand; in
  addition to learning more about the issues facing citizens of the
  Lone Star State, he has been a valuable part of the legislative
  process; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Thompson interrupted his college studies in 2003
  to serve in the U.S. Army for seven years, including 45 months
  overseas in Korea and Iraq, where, with the rank of sergeant, he led
  a combat team of 20 soldiers; he earned three Army Commendation
  Medals, three Army Achievement Medals, and two Good Conduct Medals,
  as well as the National Defense Service Medal and the Global War on
  Terrorism Expeditionary Medal; he returned to civilian life in 2010
  and is now studying at Austin Community College; and
         WHEREAS, This noteworthy Texan has performed his duties as a
  legislative intern with exceptional skill and dedication, and he is
  indeed deserving of special recognition for his fine work; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby commend John Paul Thompson for his service as a
  legislative intern in the office of State Representative Roberto
  Alonzo and extend to him sincere best wishes for success in all his
  future endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Thompson as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
