R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Glen Austin, a participant in the Texas Legislative
  Internship Program, has rendered outstanding service in the office
  of State Representative Roberto R. Alonzo during the 83rd
  Legislative Session; and
         WHEREAS, Established in 1990 and administered by the Mickey
  Leland Center on World Hunger and Peace at Texas Southern
  University, TLIP provides a unique opportunity for students from
  Texas colleges and universities to serve as interns in the Texas
  Legislature, in state agencies, and in local government offices;
  and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Austin earned a bachelor's degree in psychology
  in 2011 from the University of Central Arkansas; while a student
  there, he was the philanthropy chair and vice president of
  communications for Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, and he was active
  with the Wesley Foundation Campus Ministry; and
         WHEREAS, Now enrolled at the Thurgood Marshall School of Law
  at TSU, Mr. Austin is a member of the Public Service Committee of
  the Public Interest Law Association and served as a volunteer judge
  for the American Mock Trial Association Houston Regional
  Tournament; he previously gained experience as a legal intern with
  the Gulf Region Advocacy Center, where he helped prepare defenses
  for capital crimes and also worked on sentence mitigation; and
         WHEREAS, Glen Austin has skillfully handled a variety of
  duties in the office of Representative Alonzo, and he may indeed
  reflect with pride on his contributions as a legislative intern;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Glen Austin for his dedication and
  exemplary work as a participant in the Texas Legislative Internship
  Program and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Austin as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
