R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, During the 83rd Legislative Session, Kira Retana has
  ably served her fellow Texans as a legislative aide in the office of
  State Representative Roberto Alonzo; and
         WHEREAS, Since joining the staff, Ms. Retana has contributed
  to the workings of state government firsthand; in addition to
  learning more about the legislative process and the issues facing
  citizens of the Lone Star State, she has gained valuable experience
  in the field of public service; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Retana recently earned her bachelor's degree in
  political science with a minor in mass communication from Texas
  State University; while a student, she participated in the
  Leadership Institute, attending a workshop series and
  collaborating with peers to create practical solutions for campus
  challenges; she previously graduated from National Blue Ribbon
  School Buchanan High School in Clovis, California, and she pursued
  a concentration in environmental science at the Center for Advanced
  Research and Technology; moreover, she has completed computer
  science training in a number of programs both at Texas State and in
  Santa Monica, California; she hopes to attend law school and study
  computer and Internet law; and
         WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has performed her
  duties as a legislative aide with skill and dedication, and she is
  indeed deserving of special recognition for her fine work; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Kira Retana for her service as a
  legislative aide in the office of State Representative Roberto
  Alonzo and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success
  in all her endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Retana as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
