R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Jim McWilliams is retiring in June 2013 as a teacher
  in the Spurger Independent School District, concluding an exemplary
  career in education that has spanned 42 years; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. McWilliams gained experience at schools in Port
  Arthur and Kirbyville before becoming the principal of Spurger
  Elementary School, where he worked for a decade; his distinguished
  31-year tenure with Spurger ISD also includes assisting with
  district administration, serving as a middle school principal, and
  teaching all grade levels of special education; under the guidance
  of this talented administrator, his elementary school staff were
  recognized for exceptional student gains in the statewide
  assessment of minimum skills; he holds both a bachelor's and a
  master's degree from Stephen F. Austin State University; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed public servant has given back to his
  community in myriad ways; he is a lifetime member of Alpha Phi Omega
  and active in the Lions Club, and he has been affiliated with the
  Masons and the Order of the Eastern Star for more than 25 years; in
  addition, he is a valued member of First Baptist Church; and
         WHEREAS, Jim McWilliams has made a positive difference in the
  lives of countless students, and he may indeed reflect with great
  pride on his many professional accomplishments as he prepares to
  embark on the next exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Jim McWilliams on his retirement
  from the Spurger ISD and extend to him sincere best wishes for
  continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. McWilliams as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
