R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Jim McWilliams is retiring in June 2013 as a teacher |
|
in the Spurger Independent School District, concluding an exemplary |
|
career in education that has spanned 42 years; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. McWilliams gained experience at schools in Port |
|
Arthur and Kirbyville before becoming the principal of Spurger |
|
Elementary School, where he worked for a decade; his distinguished |
|
31-year tenure with Spurger ISD also includes assisting with |
|
district administration, serving as a middle school principal, and |
|
teaching all grade levels of special education; under the guidance |
|
of this talented administrator, his elementary school staff were |
|
recognized for exceptional student gains in the statewide |
|
assessment of minimum skills; he holds both a bachelor's and a |
|
master's degree from Stephen F. Austin State University; and |
|
WHEREAS, This esteemed public servant has given back to his |
|
community in myriad ways; he is a lifetime member of Alpha Phi Omega |
|
and active in the Lions Club, and he has been affiliated with the |
|
Masons and the Order of the Eastern Star for more than 25 years; in |
|
addition, he is a valued member of First Baptist Church; and |
|
WHEREAS, Jim McWilliams has made a positive difference in the |
|
lives of countless students, and he may indeed reflect with great |
|
pride on his many professional accomplishments as he prepares to |
|
embark on the next exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be |
|
it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Jim McWilliams on his retirement |
|
from the Spurger ISD and extend to him sincere best wishes for |
|
continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. McWilliams as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
