R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Karli Victoria Overstreet of Kountze has recorded a |
|
|
host of accomplishments in the course of her academic career; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The 2012 salutatorian of Kountze High School, |
|
|
Ms. Overstreet was actively involved in the National Honor Society |
|
|
and was a member of the Campus Improvement Committee; she excelled |
|
|
in competition, playing for the varsity softball team and earning |
|
|
first team all-district and offensive MVP awards, as well as taking |
|
|
part in UIL contests with the Kountze High School calculator team; |
|
|
in addition, she was a dedicated member of FFA and the King's |
|
|
Regiment drum line; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Now a student in the College of Engineering at Lamar |
|
|
University, Ms. Overstreet has been repeatedly recognized for her |
|
|
stellar academic record; the recipient of an Engineering Excellence |
|
|
Scholarship from the university and of yearly grants from the |
|
|
College of Engineering, she has also received a scholarship from |
|
|
the Business and Professional Women organization and a Mirabeau |
|
|
B. Lamar Award of Excellence scholarship from both the Pine and |
|
|
Saratoga Masonic Lodges; Ms. Overstreet was inducted into the Alpha |
|
|
Lambda Delta and the Phi Eta Sigma Honor Societies in her freshman |
|
|
year, and she was named to the fall 2012 Dean's List; a member of the |
|
|
national and Lamar University chapters of the American Society of |
|
|
Mechanical Engineers, she is currently completing a summer |
|
|
engineering internship; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Karli Overstreet has earned the respect and |
|
|
admiration of her teachers and classmates wherever she has gone, |
|
|
and her exceptional scholastic ability, hard work, and commitment |
|
|
to excellence have opened the way to limitless opportunities for |
|
|
this remarkable young Texan; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Karli Victoria Overstreet on her |
|
|
many outstanding achievements and extend to her sincere best wishes |
|
|
for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Overstreet as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
