R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, Robert Simonson was selected to serve as the first |
|
|
paid chief of the Lumberton Fire Department, and he began his tenure |
|
|
in this position on May 13, 2013; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A Lumberton resident for the past 16 years, Chief |
|
|
Simonson brings with him some three decades of experience in the |
|
|
fire service; he most recently worked as the fire technology |
|
|
program coordinator at the Lamar Institute of Technology, where he |
|
|
previously served as an instructor in the fire academy; before |
|
|
that, he spent 24 years as a member of the Houston Fire Department; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Among Chief Simonson's responsibilities is |
|
|
overseeing two paid firefighters as well as 30 to 40 volunteers; |
|
|
moreover, he is reaching out to emergency management departments |
|
|
throughout the county in an effort to facilitate mutual aid |
|
|
agreements; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The citizens of Lumberton are fortunate to have an |
|
|
individual of Robert Simonson's skill and dedication leading their |
|
|
fire department, and it is a pleasure to honor him on attaining this |
|
|
milestone in his outstanding public safety career; now, therefore, |
|
|
be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Robert Simonson on his appointment |
|
|
as chief of the Lumberton Fire Department and extend to him sincere |
|
|
best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Chief Simonson as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
