R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, An outstanding civic leader received well-deserved |
|
|
recognition when Alan E. Sims was named the 2013 Man of the Year by |
|
|
the Cedar Hill Chamber of Commerce; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Sims is the city manager of Cedar Hill; he is a |
|
|
member of the board of the Cedar Hill Chamber of Commerce and is |
|
|
actively involved in the Rotary Club and Lions Club; he is also on |
|
|
the board of Trinity Christian School; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This notable public administrator served on the |
|
|
board of the North Texas Tollway Authority from 2003 to 2010 and is |
|
|
a regional director for the Texas City Management Association; he |
|
|
came to his Cedar Hill post in 2000 from Overland Park, Kansas, |
|
|
where he had been serving as deputy city manager; he has bachelor's |
|
|
and master's degrees from the University of Kansas and was awarded |
|
|
an honorary doctor of laws degree from Northwood University in |
|
|
Cedar Hill in 2008; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, he enjoys the love and |
|
|
support of his wife of 40 years, Gayle; they are the proud parents |
|
|
of four children and have had the joy of watching their family grow |
|
|
to include six grandchildren; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Alan Sims has contributed immeasurably to the |
|
|
quality of life in his community, and he is indeed deserving of this |
|
|
prestigious honor; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Alan E. Sims on his selection as |
|
|
the 2013 Man of the Year by the Cedar Hill Chamber of Commerce and |
|
|
extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Sims as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
