R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Residents of Forest Hill are gathering on Memorial
  Day 2013 to dedicate the newly completed Memorial Park in honor of
  local military veterans and public safety officers who have so
  commendably served their fellow citizens; and
         WHEREAS, Commissioned in 2012 by the Forest Hill City Council
  and overseen by a committee of staff members and volunteers, the
  park was created on land donated in 2002 by the family of Samuel
  Gene Payte, a real estate developer and World War II navy veteran;
  and
         WHEREAS, A highlight of the park is a "Court of Honor" with
  stone panels representing each branch of the U.S. military and the
  engraved names of active and former service members; a monument
  honoring prisoners of war and soldiers reported missing in action
  and a tribute in remembrance of Forest Hill public safety officers
  who lost their lives in the line of duty are also important sections
  of the memorial; and
         WHEREAS, Texans owe a profound debt of gratitude to the men
  and women who risk their lives in our behalf on American soil and
  overseas, and this poignant installation will serve as a reminder
  of their courage and sacrifice for generations to come; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the City of Forest Hill on the
  completion of Memorial Park and commemorate the service of the
  community's military and public safety personnel, past and present;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the City of Forest Hill as an expression of high regard
  by the Texas House of Representatives.
