R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Savannah Page, a talented student at Thorndale High |
|
|
School, has been awarded a 2013 Luminant Power Track Scholarship; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This prestigious honor recognizes distinguished |
|
|
high school seniors who are interested in exploring professional |
|
|
opportunities in power plant or mining operations; out of nearly |
|
|
300 applicants, only 31 were chosen to participate in the 2013 Power |
|
|
Track career development program, which includes funding to pursue |
|
|
an associate's degree in certain related fields as well as a paid |
|
|
summer internship under the guidance of a mentor; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The daughter of proud parents Kenneth and Valerie |
|
|
Page, Savannah Page is a member of the National Honor Society and |
|
|
the National Art Honor Society, and she has earned awards for her |
|
|
visual art; in addition, she serves as a varsity football |
|
|
videographer and participated in the 2012-2013 one-act play; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Preparing to one day work in the power plant |
|
|
industry, Ms. Page has achieved the rank of Level One Electrician |
|
|
from the National Center for Construction Education and Research, |
|
|
and she has passed all competencies required for her 10-hour OSHA |
|
|
card; she plans to double major in electrical systems and |
|
|
instrumentation and controls technology at Texas State Technical |
|
|
College in Waco; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This noteworthy young Texan is working toward her |
|
|
goals with great diligence and resolve, and she may indeed look |
|
|
forward to a future bright with promise; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Savannah Page on her receipt of a |
|
|
Luminant Power Track Scholarship and extend to her sincere best |
|
|
wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Page as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
