R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Savannah Page, a talented student at Thorndale High
  School, has been awarded a 2013 Luminant Power Track Scholarship;
  and
         WHEREAS, This prestigious honor recognizes distinguished
  high school seniors who are interested in exploring professional
  opportunities in power plant or mining operations; out of nearly
  300 applicants, only 31 were chosen to participate in the 2013 Power
  Track career development program, which includes funding to pursue
  an associate's degree in certain related fields as well as a paid
  summer internship under the guidance of a mentor; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of proud parents Kenneth and Valerie
  Page, Savannah Page is a member of the National Honor Society and
  the National Art Honor Society, and she has earned awards for her
  visual art; in addition, she serves as a varsity football
  videographer and participated in the 2012-2013 one-act play; and
         WHEREAS, Preparing to one day work in the power plant
  industry, Ms. Page has achieved the rank of Level One Electrician
  from the National Center for Construction Education and Research,
  and she has passed all competencies required for her 10-hour OSHA
  card; she plans to double major in electrical systems and
  instrumentation and controls technology at Texas State Technical
  College in Waco; and
         WHEREAS, This noteworthy young Texan is working toward her
  goals with great diligence and resolve, and she may indeed look
  forward to a future bright with promise; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Savannah Page on her receipt of a
  Luminant Power Track Scholarship and extend to her sincere best
  wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Page as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
