R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Patty Rodgers has been named Citizen of the Year by
  the Florence Chamber of Commerce; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Rodgers, who moved to Florence with her
  husband, Eddie, 25 years ago, works for Union State Bank and is a
  longtime member of the chamber of commerce; she is also a strong
  advocate for cancer research, an entertaining storyteller, and an
  accomplished author, with a book and nearly 100 published stories
  to her credit; and
         WHEREAS, She was employed by the Chisholm Trail Special
  Utility District for 13 years before her current job with the bank,
  and among the highlights of her career are the opportunities that
  she has had to teach children about water conservation and the
  importance of saving money; and
         WHEREAS, This dynamic Texan has served on the board of the
  Florence Public Library, and she is the nominee to be the one rural
  representative on a consolidated Chisholm Trail and Georgetown
  water system; and
         WHEREAS, Through exemplary community service and a
  commitment to the well-being of others, Patty Rodgers has helped to
  make Florence an even better place in which to live and work, and
  she may indeed take special pride in her notable record of
  accomplishment; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Patty Rodgers on receiving the
  Citizen of the Year award from the Florence Chamber of Commerce and
  extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mrs. Rodgers as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
