R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. James Phil McCurdy of Marble Falls is serving as |
|
|
the Physician of the Day at the State Capitol on May 2, 2013, and he |
|
|
is to be commended for his participation in this time-honored |
|
|
tradition; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Since 1971, this program has provided for a |
|
|
volunteer physician to be on call each day of a legislative session |
|
|
to offer medical assistance to legislators and support staff; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. McCurdy earned his doctoral degree from The |
|
|
University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in 1979 and |
|
|
completed the McLennan County Residency Program in Waco in 1982; he |
|
|
holds certification from the American Board of Family Medicine, |
|
|
and he is a member of the Texas and American Academies of Family |
|
|
Physicians and the Texas and American Medical Associations; from |
|
|
2003 to 2007, Dr. McCurdy served as chief of staff at Seton Highland |
|
|
Lakes Hospital in Burnet, and he now operates his own private |
|
|
practice in Marble Falls; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Phil McCurdy has built an admirable career by |
|
|
devoting himself to the health and well-being of others, and it is a |
|
|
pleasure to welcome him to the State Capitol; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby recognize Dr. James Phil McCurdy for his |
|
|
contributions to the medical profession and commend him for his |
|
|
generous service to the Texas Legislature as Physician of the Day; |
|
|
and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Dr. McCurdy as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
