R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, Gia Jones has been selected as the 2012-2013 |
|
|
Atascocita Middle School Teacher of the Year by the Humble |
|
|
Independent School District; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Jones began her distinguished 27-year career in |
|
|
education in 1985 and joined Humble ISD the following year; since |
|
|
that time, she has taught journalism, world cultures, government, |
|
|
and U.S. and Texas history, and she is a certified AVID instructor; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Today, in her role as the academic lead teacher in |
|
|
the school's social studies department, she assists her colleagues |
|
|
in implementing new classroom strategies, integrating technology |
|
|
into courses, and creating lesson plans, while also mentoring new |
|
|
teachers and serving as a liaison to the administration and |
|
|
district; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Children are the Lone Star State's most precious |
|
|
resource, and a quality education is vital for their future |
|
|
well-being; Ms. Jones exemplifies the qualities that make a truly |
|
|
great teacher, and her commitment to her profession has earned her |
|
|
the admiration of her colleagues and students alike; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Gia Jones on being named the |
|
|
Atascocita Middle School Teacher of the Year and extend to her |
|
|
sincere best wishes for continued success with her important work; |
|
|
and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Jones as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
