R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Shelby Smith of the Paducah Independent School
  District took first place in a 2013 design competition sponsored by
  the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America; and
         WHEREAS, The FCCLA is a national nonprofit organization for
  young people in grades 7 through 12 who are studying family and
  consumer sciences; at the group's state conference, which was held
  April 9-13, 2013, in Dallas, students competed in 21 different
  event categories; and
         WHEREAS, For the design event, Ms. Smith constructed a lamp
  out of deer antlers; her innovative creation had previously claimed
  the first prize at the county project show; and
         WHEREAS, The success of this outstanding young Texan at the
  state FCCLA competition qualifies her to participate in the
  national event in Nashville, Tennessee, in July, and she may indeed
  take pride in the recognition she has received for her talent, hard
  work, and dedication; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Shelby Smith on earning top honors
  in the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America design
  competition and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued
  success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Smith as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
