R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Vivian Thompson of the Moorland branch of the YMCA
  of Metropolitan Dallas received a 2012 Sam Winstead Volunteer of
  the Year Award at the annual meeting of the association on April 11,
  2013; and
         WHEREAS, This prestigious award is presented every year to a
  volunteer at each branch of the Dallas YMCA who has demonstrated
  exceptional commitment to a program or has helped further the goals
  of the YMCA in his or her community; and
         WHEREAS, When she was a child, Vivian Thompson attended the
  Moorland branch at its old location on Flora Street, and since 1996,
  she has been a member at the current location, where she is actively
  involved with Movie Night, Healthy Kids Day, the Back to School
  Bash, Cookies with Santa, and other programs; she is known with
  great affection by the branch's staff and volunteers as "Ms. Viv";
  and
         WHEREAS, Through her exemplary service to the Moorland Family
  YMCA, Vivian Thompson has greatly benefited her community and
  demonstrated her support of the organization's goals of youth
  development, healthy living, and social responsibility; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Vivian Thompson on receiving a 2012
  Sam Winstead Volunteer of the Year Award and extend to her sincere
  best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Thompson as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
