R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The boys' 1,600-meter relay team from Glen Rose High |
|
School achieved great distinction by qualifying for the 2013 |
|
University Interscholastic League Track & Field State Meet; and |
|
WHEREAS, Team members Blake Eschbach, Ryan Lamb, Carter |
|
Brandt, and Nathan Smith earned their place in the state |
|
competition with an exceptional performance at the 3A Region I |
|
meet, held April 26 and 27 in Lubbock; the squad finished first and |
|
recorded a time of 3 minutes, 20.24 seconds, the second-fastest |
|
time among the 3A regional qualifiers; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ably guided by coach Todd Swearengin, the Glen Rose |
|
runners became the first Tigers boys' relay team to reach the state |
|
meet; they took their place alongside the other top 3A squads at |
|
Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin on May 11, where they finished |
|
eighth; and |
|
WHEREAS, Demonstrating hard work and an unwavering |
|
commitment to excellence, these dedicated student-athletes earned |
|
the right to compete at the highest level of their sport, and their |
|
accomplishment is a source of pride to their school and their many |
|
supporters in the local community; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Glen Rose High School boys' |
|
1,600-meter relay team on qualifying for the UIL Track & Field State |
|
Meet and extend to the runners and to Coach Swearengin sincere best |
|
wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
