R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The boys' 1,600-meter relay team from Glen Rose High
  School achieved great distinction by qualifying for the 2013
  University Interscholastic League Track & Field State Meet; and
         WHEREAS, Team members Blake Eschbach, Ryan Lamb, Carter
  Brandt, and Nathan Smith earned their place in the state
  competition with an exceptional performance at the 3A Region I
  meet, held April 26 and 27 in Lubbock; the squad finished first and
  recorded a time of 3 minutes, 20.24 seconds, the second-fastest
  time among the 3A regional qualifiers; and
         WHEREAS, Ably guided by coach Todd Swearengin, the Glen Rose
  runners became the first Tigers boys' relay team to reach the state
  meet; they took their place alongside the other top 3A squads at
  Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin on May 11, where they finished
  eighth; and
         WHEREAS, Demonstrating hard work and an unwavering
  commitment to excellence, these dedicated student-athletes earned
  the right to compete at the highest level of their sport, and their
  accomplishment is a source of pride to their school and their many
  supporters in the local community; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Glen Rose High School boys'
  1,600-meter relay team on qualifying for the UIL Track & Field State
  Meet and extend to the runners and to Coach Swearengin sincere best
  wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
