R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The exceptional auto racing achievements of Donnie
  Rowe of Eddy were recognized with his induction into the Wall of
  Fame at the Heart O' Texas Speedway in Elm Mott in 2013; and
         WHEREAS, A 1955 graduate of Bruceville-Eddy High School, Mr.
  Rowe started racing in 1962 and went on to distinguish himself
  during a notable 13-year career; for six years, he was a top driver
  for the prominent ownership team of Bob and Sheila Tidwell, and this
  skilled competitor set a track record at Hillsboro Speedway with a
  292-cubic-inch engine; and
         WHEREAS, Admired and respected by his fellow drivers, Mr.
  Rowe won the 1962 Good Sportsmanship Award at Heart O' Texas
  Speedway; he was also a fan favorite, staking a claim in 1965 to the
  Most Popular Driver Award; off the track, he further indulged his
  love of automobiles by working for 16 years at AMC Plymouth Waco
  Dodge and serving as a mechanics instructor for 28 years at Texas
  State Technical College; and
         WHEREAS, Donnie Rowe's success on the track provided thrills
  to countless Texas race fans, and he is indeed deserving of this
  prestigious honor; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Donnie Rowe on being selected as a
  2013 inductee into the Heart O' Texas Speedway Wall of Fame and
  extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Rowe as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
