R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, The McGregor Garden Club won myriad accolades at both the District V meeting on March 26, 2013, and the state convention in College Station on April 22; and

WHEREAS, A member of Texas Garden Clubs, Inc., the McGregor Garden Club promotes a number of local beautification projects; for its efforts, the group received first place at the district level for its President's Report, Scrapbook, Yearbook, Community Landscape Design, Community Service project, and Pink Pocket Garden, which serves to raise awareness of breast cancer; moreover, several area students, including first-grader Kyndall Houchin, second-grader Gracee Johnnene, and third-grader Valeria Noemi Licea, earned Youth Poster Awards, and fifth-graders Bridgette Burdine, Jade Luna, Abby Lucksinger, and Audrey Lillard received honorable mention; and

WHEREAS, The 2013 Texas Garden Club State Convention celebrated the theme of "Kicking Up Our Heels With Texas Garden Clubs"; the first place winners from the district level were eligible to continue at the state event, and the McGregor group again took top honors for its Pink Pocket Garden, Community Service, Yearbook, and Community Landscape Design initiatives; and

WHEREAS, Through their creativity, hard work, and dedication to their community, members of the McGregor Garden Club have brightened the lives of their fellow citizens, and it is a pleasure to honor them on their outstanding showing among their peers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature hereby congratulate the McGregor Garden Club on its district and state awards and extend to its members sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the club as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
